New York City native Ramin Ganeshram is an award-winning journalist who has written regularly for The New York Times and has been a regular contributor to Newsday’s food pages since 1997, as both a feature writer and one of two regular columnists for “Losing It,” a food-based diet and weight loss column. Additionally, she is the sole writer for the food portion of Newsday’s “Newcomers Series” which explores the culinary heritage of different ethnic groups in the NYC area. She is also food editor at Catalina magazine, a glossy publication geared toward women of Hispanic descent. In this role, Ramin develops stories on food trends, interviews celebrity chefs, answers readers’ culinary questions, develops original recipes and more. From 1994 to 1996 she was one of two regular food columnists for the Times Beacon Record Newspapers, an award-winning syndication of weekly papers in Long Island, NY. Her food writing contributions to other publications include Saveur, Cooking Light, Shape, Delicious Living, Fine Cooking, Kitchen & Cook and others.
Ramin is often interviewed on television, radio and in print regarding her work. She has been a featured guest on WTOP Talk Radio in Washington, D.C. and the James Beard Award-winning Food & Wine Radio Network with host Jennifer English. In January 2002, she was interviewed by Entrepreneur magazine regarding future trends in the ethnic restaurant market and has appeared on Fox 5 Good Day New York numerous times as well as Oxygen Television for Women, News 12, and College Broadcasting Network.
Ramin holds a master’s degree in journalism from Columbia University and is a member of the National Arts Club, National Press Club, and other professional organizations. She has received seven awards for her work from the Long Island Press Club chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists. She is also a graduate of the Institute of Culinary Education (formerly Peter Kump’s New York cooking school) and is a member of Women Chef’s and Restaurateurs.
Before turning his attention soley to food and lifestyle photography, Jean Paul worked as a freelance assignment photographer covering Long Island, NYC and Connecticut.
Selected clients include: The New York Times, The Associated Press, Getty Images and Magnet Communications. He was also a United States Government Contract Photographer. Additionally, he still retains a staff photographer position at Catalina Magazine.
He completed graduate work at The International Center of Photography in New York and earned a certificate in Documentary Photography and Photojournalism. He also attened the prestigious Eddie Adams Workshop.
Exhibits include: The Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art (MOMA), The National Arts Club, The International Center of Photography and The Bathouse.
